PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

Introduction:

Production Engineering Dept. has started in 2002 with intake capacity of 30. The degree course in Production Engineering-Sandwich is different from regular Production Engineering course. Production-Sandwich includes one year Industrial training as academic part, which gives practical experience. During this training period students can imply their theoretical knowledge and can acquire skill to enhance in engineering field.

There is close interaction with industries around this place that would help in getting sponsored projects and potential exists for quality improvement of the course.

The department has well equipped ultramodern laboratories such as CAD/CAM, Workshop, Metrology &Quality Control, and CNC Room, for the courses offered as per Pune University Curriculum. Considerable attention is given in the proper planning and layout of various labs as per the standard. The workshop department has started in the year 1984 and is well equipped with the latest machine tools, equipments and state-of-art furniture.

Metrology and Quality Control Lab:

This laboratory is well equipped with the latest measuring equipments like Profile Projector, Toll Makers Microscope and Floating Carriage Micrometer.

CAM Lab :

This lab has advance soft wares like Mechanical Atodesk, Autocad and Ansys. The work in this  lab coves CNC tool path generation and actual machining of Job  on Technofour CNC Trainer .

National Conference on Quality Engineering

The department of Production Engineering is organizing three days National Conference on Enriching the Work Life- A Quality Engineering Perspective from 4th to 6th October 2007 in the college seminar hall. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sponsors the conference in association with Indian Institute of Production Engineers, Pune Chapter. The basic purpose of the conference is to bring all field practitioners, value systems together for further improvements. The conference is divided on 8 themes such as Deming and Juran’s approach, Taguchi’s Methods of Quality Engineering, Six Sigma and its applications, 5s, Kaizen and Poka Yoke, TS 16949, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), Toyota Production System etc.

The invited guest speakers are from renowned state and national level organizations / institutions / industries such as Tata Motors Pune, CII Delhi, Bureau Veritas. There will be approximately 120 delegates attending this conference from all over India.

Inplant Training:

Production Engineering Department brings the design dream into reality. It is the hub of manufacturing activities and involves direct liaison with industries. We are continuously striving for up gradation of the knowledge and nurturing the practical skills of students in the endeavor of making them suitable for future industry practices. The students take up the industry problems and to help them, we invite the experts from industries to interact with our students. The Inplant Training opportunities given to students develops the value addition along practical exposure providing the technical enhancement to the career of students. To guide the students correctly during the training, college has given the Inplant Training Work Diary to every

student in which monthly report formats are provided. The students prepare monthly reports as per the format and submit to the department. They also give presentation to Mechanical and Production students about their work in Inplant Training. We have also established the strong communication links by setting up a group e-mail id for students to which all students of TE Production are having accesses.

Staff members visit to all industries providing the Inplant training at least once in semester and the response given by them is very encouraging. The students give power point presentations for Pune University Oral Examinations. The details of 5th sem inplant training are as follows:
