Information Technology :
Mission :
To help provide supportive and simulative environment essential
for intellectual and personal growth of its students.
About the department :
Since its inception as a department in 1999 the IT department
has followed a path devoted to excellence in academics .The
current intake of the department is 90.Being a fore runner
in the field of technology the department envisages to evolve
as or centre of excellence and to adapt itself to the rapid
advancements in the specialized areas. The department is actively
involved in managing and maintaining the institute level facilities
such as campus wide networking,library & library automation.
Faculty :
Includes a judicious blend a highly motivated technical experts
with a rigorous work schedule and an unflagging team spirit.
The faculty has expertise in various areas like operating
systems, software engineering, microprocessor based systems
and computer networking.

Laboratories :
The department has six state-of-the-art labs with more than
100 IBM machines that are fully connected by an intranet with
4 servers. All the machines are enabled to work on various
platforms like Windows and Linux. The labs have been scientifically
designed to provide freedom of movement. The labs are fully
air-conditioned. The labs take care of all the aspects of
computing such as.
- Operating Systems
- Databases
- Networking
- Multimedia
- Internet & Web Technology
- Software Engineering
Intranet & Internet :
All the machines in the department are fully connected by
the intranet including 4 servers and switches. We also have
a leased line of 1 Mbps. Thus all machines have Internet
access.
Research :
The faculty in actively engaged in research areas like software
engineering and application of fuzzy logic in the areas of
software engineering.Many papers have been published at national & international
conferences & journals.

Co-curricular & extra-curricular
activities :
- The IT department has conducted PC assembly, trouble shooting
and maintenance workshops for five consecutive years
- The department has also organized seminars on Linux Operating
System once every academic year since its inception.
- The department has organized several guest lectures by
resource persons from industry
- TeXplosion an intercollegiate event has been scheduled
to be held in Feb 2007 which the dept. organizes collaboration with the dept. of
Computer Engineering for last 4 years.

Students :
TITANS (The Information Technology Association of Nterprising
students) was formed in Aug 01. The main objective to form
TITAN was to involve every student of the IT department to
carry out technical activities. TITANS provides a platform
to the students to showcase their technical talents.
Titans have the PC assembly workshop and TeXplosion on their
yearly agenda.
