Computer Engineering :

  • Goal of Department:

    Imparting knowledge to aspiring technocrats to take up the challenges of the ever-expanding world of Computers

    Brief Overview:

    The Computer engineering department was started in the year 1984. The department has established itself as a valuable asset and has produced highly competent technocrats. Our alumni are placed in various multinational software firms. We pride ourselves for our state-of-the-art laboratories and highly qualified staff. We emphasize on the basics and boosting the competency to prepare them for the challenges in the field of computing and IT.



    Laboratories:

    Computer department has three well equipped laboratories with 202 Computers.
    Software Lab-I : Equipped with IBM PIV machines with UPS backup of 15 KVA and four IBM PIII Servers (Fault tolerant UPS Backup).

    Software Lab-II : Equipped with IBM PIV, PIII, Celeron and Compaq machines.

    Hardware Lab is equipped with 8085/8086 Microprocessor kits, function generators, oscilloscope, 486 machines and PIV machines.
               

     Grants received to the Department:

  • Received grant of Rs. 60,000 from University of Pune for faculty development programme on “.Net Technology”    for academic year 2007-2008.
  • Sactioned research grant of Rs. 1 lacks from University of Pune for “Developing new strategies for performance improvement of Data mining and Business intelligent system” for for academic year 2007-2008.

       Co-curricular Activities:

Students from computer department have won many competitions like Concepts, they were awarded Champions                 Trophy in Concepts 2002.
Students from computer department have participated in project competition at IIT Kanpur and received prizes for programming contests as well as paper presentation competitions.

Extra Curricular Activities:

Students from the department have organized a technical festivalTeXplosion 2K7” .Various events in this are Paper Presentation, Code Combat, Linux Workshop(Basic Installation) , Project Exhibition , Fragmentor , Aptitude Challenger, Advanced Linux Workshop ,Open quiz.

TECHNICAL SEMINAR/WORKSHOP CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT 

1.   faculty training program on .net technology

 

                     

 

 The faculty development programme on “.Net Technology” was organized by the Department of    

 Computer Engineering on November 22nd & 23rd  2007.This workshop was  sponsored by University

 of Pune.The basic intention to organize this workshop on “.Net Technology” was to give latest updates

 to the faculty & hands-on practice on this technology Experts in “.Net “ from L&T Infotech, Pune helped  

 us to conduct the Theory and Hands-on sessions .Faculties in Engineering colleges from all over   

 Maharashtra have  taken benefit from his workshop. We are also thankful to Advisory committee  

 members Prof.P.W.Wani Dean Faculty Engineering University of Pune and  Prof.G.V. Garje,Chaiman                   

 BOS Computer Engineering,University of Pune  for their  valuable suggestions and presence.

 

  2. faculty training program on rational suite

     The Computer Engineering Department Organised a three day teaining programme on   “Rational Suit  on 22nd 23rd 24th Oct. It was conducted by an IBM representative Mr. Amit  Dharawal from ZenSoft Services. The training was very beneficial because it was a hands on training session, for various tools in the Rational Suite Software package. Rational Suit is a software development package developed by “Rational”, R & D organization rendering services to IBM.

               

                3. faculty training program on cyberoam

Department of Computer Engg. Has perchased a firewall named Cyberoam. To elaborate the functionality & configuration Cyberoam organized a two day training program on date 24th & 25th Jan. All the faculty members had taken the benefits from theoretical as well as hands-on practical session.              

Results:

The average results of the department are above 85%. One of our student has been Second rank holder at University in BE Computer Examination.
