Message  from Head of the Department

Civil Engineering is the Mother of all Engineering professions. The Egyptian pyramids, Roman aqueducts and highways, Great Wall of China and ours own Taj Mahal are all the Civil Engineering feats. Today the profession offers opportunity for involvement in various areas of Civil Engineering in the field of construction, construction materials, environment, geotechnical, structural, transportation and water resource engineering and allied areas. The opportunity for significant contributions towards the betterment of society is limitless for the Civil Engineers.

MISSION

To educate and prepare students to succeed in the Civil Engineering profession by providing them with essential technical tools and skills which will enable them to perform current and future Civil Engineering tasks and to promote the need for lifelong learning.

 EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

The Civil Engineering curriculum is designed to reflect above mission. The undergraduate programme was designed to provide students with a broad understanding of basic Civil Engineering concepts. The curriculum gives them the necessary academic foundation and will also enable them to focus on a particular aptitude that may guide them decide and their specialization in graduate school.

STUDENT’S WORLD / STUDENT’S ACHIEVEMENTS

    

Outstanding Performances by the Students at University Level

 í    Ms. Sonali Kand topped University of Pune Examinations during S.E., T.E. as well as B.E. in 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 respectively consecutively for 3 years.

í    Prafull Aher stood first in University of Pune Examinations during his S.E. in 2001-02 and T.E. 2002-03.

í    Ashish Dighe stood first in University of Pune during his T.E. in 1999-2000 and Second in his B.E. in 2000-01.

í    Ms. Deepa Kalgaonkar stood first in her T.E. exams in University of Pune in the year 1997-98.

 

The final year results for last five years show a continuous increase in the total number of successful students and also the number of students passed in first class with distinction.

 

Prizes won by Students

 

í    B.E. Civil students, Rohan Bane, Rahul Herekar, Aditya Bakade won the first prize in “CONSTRO 07” Gate Competition.

í    B.E. Civil students, Jitesh Arora & Anand Pote won first prize at “NIRMITI 2008” in “Model Making Competition” at MIT, Pune.

í    Four B.E. Civil students participated at a National level paper presentation competition at Chennai & Trichy. Two students won second prize.

í    B.E. Civil student, K. Shivyogi won the first prize at “NIRMITI 2003” at MIT, Pune.

í    Five B.E. Civil students won first prizes at “NIRMITI 2002” in various events at MIT, Pune.

í    T.E. Civil Student, Mahesh Kore won the first prize in elocution competition at district level on topic “Expectation from New Mellennium”, in 2000.

í    Four T.E. Civil students won the consolation prize for “Innovative Steel Design of Railway Bridge” at National level organized by INSDAG Kolkatta.
